Advocacy: IRST also aims to influence policy and legislation related to road safety. This can include advocating for stronger traffic laws, better infrastructure, and increased enforcement of existing laws.

Capacity building: IRST plays an important role in building the capacity of different stakeholders involved in road safety, such as government officials, law enforcement agencies, and civil society organizations. This can include providing training and technical assistance to these stakeholders.

Community engagement: IRST also aims to engage with communities to promote safe driving practices and build a culture of road safety. This can include working with schools, local leaders, and community groups to raise awareness and promote safe driving behaviours.

According to the NCRB report, In the nation, there were 4,22,659 Traffic Accidents in 2021 compared to 3,68,828 in 2020

The number of fatalities due to traffic accidents per a thousand vehicles climbed from 0.45 in 2020 to 0.53 in 2021. Thus, there have been 14.77% more traffic accidents in India.

Injuries from these road incidents were 3,73,884 persons in 2021, and fatalities amounted to 1,73,860.

Youngest to complete a round trip solo motorcycle ride from south to north

The record for being the youngest to complete a round trip solo motorcycle ride from south to north was set by
Dr. Komal Patil (born on June 20, 2002) of Ranebennur, Karnataka. 

She started her ride from Ranebennur at 5:22 am on March 8, 2022, travelled across Mumbai-Vadodara-Udaipur-Jaipur- Amritsar-Srinagar-Ludhiana-Delhi-Agra-Indore- Aurangabad-Solapur-Bijapur-Bagalkot, and completed it at Ranebennur at 11:07 am on March 28, 2022.

She travelled 6,039 km in 20 days, at the age of 19 years, 9 months and 8 days, as confirmed on April 25, 2022.
